Abstract
The article examines the peculiarities of students’ physical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the wartime period in Ukraine. A sociological survey was conducted among university students to identify changes in the frequency, duration, and motivation of physical exercises between 2020 and 2025. The results indicate that more than half of respondents (approximately 73%) maintain a level of physical activity of two to three sessions per week, while about 10% do not engage in physical exercise at all. The data show a moderate decline in the overall intensity of physical activity during the pandemic and the war, mainly due to restrictions on access to sports facilities, the transition to distance learning, and increased psychological stress. Despite these challenges, many students demonstrated adaptive strategies, such as home workouts, outdoor jogging, yoga, and online fitness classes. The study highlights that physical activity not only contributes to maintaining physical health but also plays an essential role in stabilizing students’ psycho-emotional state under crisis conditions. The authors emphasize the need for modernizing university physical education programs by integrating digital technologies, mobile applications, short functional workouts, and motivation-oriented health initiatives. Such approaches can enhance the accessibility of physical activity for students, reduce hypodynamia, and promote a culture of health and self-care among young people. The findings can be applied in the development of educational strategies aimed at improving students’ quality of life during and after crisis periods.
