Експериментальна перевірка доцільності використання творчих завдань у процесі формування творчого потенціалу майбутніх викладачів іноземних мов у закладах вищої освіти

Робота присвячена актуальній проблемі формування творчого потенціалу майбутніх викладачів іноземних мов у закладах вищої освіти. У вступній частині підкреслюється важливість розвитку творчого потенціалу майбутніх викладачів іноземних мов. В основній частині викладається припущення автора, що використання 21st Century Reading Creative Thinking and Reading with TED Talks на заняттях з домашнього читання дисципліни «Практичний курс основної іноземної мови (англійської) сприятиме розвитку творчого мислення та формуватиме творчий потенціал майбутніх викладачів іноземних мов у закладах вищої освіти. Статтю завершено висновками експериментальної перевірки припущення автора. Автор наводить відомості, що ілюструють та підтверджують основні положення статті. Статтю адресовано теоретикам та практикам, які досліджують творчість та творчий потенціал особистості.

The issue of creativity and creative potential is urgent in contemporary Ukraine. A well-developed creative potential of future foreign language teachers will enable them, first, to be competitive at a labour market which is constantly changing. Second, they will feel confident and creative enough to meet challenges of contemporary academic process, and deal with 21st century young generation. The ability to think creatively is among bullet qualities of a future foreign language teacher. Ukraine’s official documents concerning higher education also underline and highlight the crucial need of the development of creative skills in students. Thus, it is necessary to choose and utilize relevant methods and tools to develop creative potential of students while training them as foreign language teachers. The presented article hypothesizes that the use of 21st Century Reading Creative Thinking and Reading with TED Talks at home reading classes will cultivate students’ creative thinking skills and develop their creative potential. The author reviews types of reading, briefly outlining each of them and presents evidence of the importance of exploiting R. Paul’s model “Elements of Thought”. 47 students, both male and female, are involved in the experiment. The nationality of them is Ukrainian and one Lebanese. The age is between 19 and 23. All students are non-native English speakers. Students were asked some questions to evaluate their readiness for a teaching career, and answered a questionnaire based on E.Tunik’s evaluator to assess their imagination, risk-taking, curiosity, and complexity. The article gives outcomes of these to advocate the launch of the experiment.
