Епоха колоніалізму зламу ХІХ – ХХ ст. в контексті «третьої пандемії чуми» в Британській Індії

В статті висвітлюються підходи до вирішення проблеми протидії пандеміям в минулому на територіях тих країн, що мали статус колоній. Враховуючи, що найбільш масштабною пандемією, що поширилась колонізованими та напів-колонізованими країнами Азії стала третя пандемія чуми зламу ХІХ – ХХ ст., яка особливо вразила населення Британської Індії, в статті аналізуються заходи британської колоніальної влади в боротьбі з нею. В статті здійснено спробу скоригувати традиційне бачення епохи розквіту світової колоніальної системи виключно як епохи тотальної експлуатації та нерівності народів колонізованих країн, акцентувавши на політиці колоніальної влади в сфері охорони здоров’я населення Індії.

The article highlights approaches to solving the problem of combating pandemics in the past in the territories of those countries that had the status of colonies. Taking into account that the third plague pandemic of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was the largest pandemic that spread to the colonized and semi-colonized countries of Asia, which especially affected the population of British India, the article analyzes the measures of the British colonial authorities in the fight against it. The article attempts to correct the traditional vision of the heyday of the world colonial system exclusively as an era of total exploitation and inequality of the peoples of the colonized countries, focusing on the policy of the colonial authorities in the field of health care of the population of India.
