Проаналізовано основні віхи становлення гібралтарської конфлікту, а також різноманітні аспекти та фактори, які впливають на еволюцію даної проблеми. Висвітлено головні причини та передумови, які сприяли розгортанню боротьби за Гібралтар. Зосереджено увагу на складності вирішення даного питання. Визначено зростання важливості Гібралтарської протоки в економічному та політичному аспектах. Розкрито значення арабського завоювання та іспанської реконкісти в даному регіоні. Встановлено ключову дату розгортання міжнародного конфлікту стосовно Гібралтару. Проілюстровано зміну політико–правового, військово–стратегічного та економічного значення Гібралтару. Охарактеризовано зміну суспільно– політичного мислення населення даного регіону. Розкрито головні плани по оволодінню територією Гібралтару та морської протоки. Наголошено на важливості діяльності дипломатії при урегулюванні кризових явищ. Визначено місце й роль Гібралтару серед імперських домагань та інтересів головних учасників конфлікту.

The paper analyzes the main milestones of the formation of the Gibraltar conflict, as well as various aspects and factors that influence the evolution of this problem. The main reasons and preconditions that contributed to the development of the struggle for Gibraltar were highlighted. The attention is focused on the complexity of the solution of this issue. The growth of the Gibraltar Strait in the economic and political aspects is determined. The value of the Arab conquest and the Spanish reconciliation in the region is revealed. The key date for the deployment of an international conflict with Gibraltar has been established. The political, legal, strategic, and economic significance of Gibraltar is illustrated. A change in the socio–political thinking of the population of this region is described. The main plans for mastering the territory of Gibraltar and the sea channel are revealed. The importance of the activities of diplomacy in the resolution of crisis phenomena is emphasized. The place and role of Gibraltar among the imperial claims and the interests of the main participants in the conflict are determined.
