Наименования драгоценных камней в русском языке: пути заимствования

В статье рассматривается происхождение номинаций драгоценных и полудрагоценных камней, заимствованных русским языком из тюркских языков. Проведен анализ иноязычных источников и предпринята попытка восстановить первоначальный язык-источник номинации. Описываются слова, которые претерпели наименьшие изменения и остались в русском языке в активном употреблении.

У статті розглядається походження номінацій дорогоцінних і напівкоштовних каменів, запозичених російською мовою з тюркських мов. Проведено аналіз іншомовних джерел і зроблено спробу відновити первинну мову-джерело номінації. Описано слова, які зазнали найменших змін і залишилися в російській мові в активному вжитку.

The article discusses the origin of the nominations of precious and semi-precious stones, borrowed from the Turkic languages to Russian. The article considers the role and functioning of originally Turkish words in Russian proceeding from monuments of the Russian literary writings and the National Russian Language Case. In particular, the history of occurrence of the words “almaz (diamond)”, “izumrud (emerald)”, “biryuza (turquoise)”, “yashma (jasper)”, “topaz (topaz)” in Russian are being traced. Investigating the etymology of such words, in most cases we come to the construction of hypotheses that are more or less subjective. Defining the tasks of Slavic and Türkologists who were engaged in research of Türkism in Russian. Since it’s usually hard to get solid documentary materials on the history of Türkic words, it’s hard to get scientific documentation, observation, hypothesis. The result is a kind of abstraction, as if one of the possible solutions of some indefinite equation. The science here turns into art. The analysis of foreign language sources and an attempt to restore the original language-source of the nomination. We consider the words that have undergone the smallest changes and remained in the Russian language in active use.
